To play one sport in high school requires determination. But for Morrison High School freshman Justina Bondeson, she goes above and beyond by participating in Basketball, Cross Country, and Track and Field. Justina plays the positions of Point Guard and Wing in Basketball, she is a Varsity Runner in Cross Country, and in Track and field Justina does the 3200M Relay, 3200M Run, 1600M Run, and the 1600M Relay.
In terms of what has made Justina a success in sports, she stated, “Focus and determination to be the best I can be. My mom tells us every morning before school, ‘I love you, be the best version of you that you can be.’ That is what I do in my school work and in sports.”
When it comes to a highlight thus far in playing high school sports, Justina stated, “Consistently improving my running times in Track, as well as making it to regionals as a freshman, my first year, in Cross Country.”
Asked what teacher or coach motivates her the most, Justina did not hesitate to answer. She stated, “Mrs. Wagstaff is my favorite teacher because she believes in me and my potential, and Coach P also motivates me, because she pushes me, and holds me to the goals I set for myself. Also, Coach P never gives up on me.”
For a role model that Justin looks up to, she looks towards family. Justina accounted, “My dad is my biggest role model. He ran for Stillwater in HS. We talk all the time about records and times. My dad was and is a fast runner, I don’t think I can ever match his times but he gives me something to reach for. My twin sister is also a big role model for me. She does the same sports I do, and is a role model because she is always by my side through everything.”
After graduating from Morrison High School, Justina plans on pursuing higher education. Justina stated, “I would like to go to medical school and become an orthopedic surgeon.”
