A three-sport athlete at Mannford High School, Charleigh Hewitt is entering her junior year and starting at third base for the softball team.

Softball has always been the sport of choice for Hewitt. From an early age, she was drawn to the sport and is now one of the key players for the Lady Pirates.

“I started playing softball at the age of four. It has always been my favorite sport. I also played basketball growing up, but softball was always my first love and the sport I chose to compete in outside of school,” said Hewitt.

Like many of her teammates, there are many things about softball that Hewitt loves. But the common denominator is always the teammates.

“I most enjoy the positive environment that the game creates. Cheering on teammates, celebrating victories, learning from mistakes, seeing each other succeed are some of the best experiences that come from being part of the team. We have a great group of talented freshmen that will contribute to our team success this season. We have a good chance of being able to win Regionals,” said Hewitt.

Hewitt also plays basketball and soccer for Mannford as well as serving as a junior class officer and being a member of National Honor Society.

“Being a student-athlete has taught me many difficult life lessons that have helped me grow as an individual. My parents have always pushed me to the best version of me. They have sacrificed time and finances so that I am able to be part of the game I love,” said Hewitt.

The junior also mentions having the opportunity to play ball with her cousin.

“My cousin, Cambri Casey brings a lot of pitching experience to the team. She has already proven she can compete at the High School level early this season. Jayden Jenkins has really improved her catching game since last season. She has also helped us on the offensive side,” said Hewitt.

Her future plans include pursuing a career in the medical field once she graduates from Mannford High.
