Max Moore is a multi-sport athlete for the Mannford Pirates. He works hard to be at his best, but he says that it helps to have a great support group around to help him stay motivated. 

“To be successful, you have to be willing to work hard,” he said. “But there are days when you just don’t feel it. I am thankful to have my teammates and coaches around me, they are like family. Also, my parents have played a big role in helping me become who I am today.”
 Moore is in his junior year at Mannford, where he is a member of the football, basketball, and baseball teams. Outside of athletics, he is also involved in the National Honor Society, Gifted and Talented, and the Spanish Club. 

Someone else that has had an impact on Max’s life has been one of his teachers. 

“Mr. Howard would have to be my favorite teacher,” he said. “He is a really good teacher and he has taught us many life skills that we can use.”

Kenny Gooch is the head football coach at Mannford. He says that Max is a great kid and teammate and he looks for him to be a leader this season.

“He is a two year starter at quarterback as a junior,” he said. “He also started for a year at outside linebacker. He is reallystarting to grow up and come into his own. He is being recruited by a number of college programs and is just now coming into his own. I am expecting him as a junior to be the leader of our football team. I can’t wait to see the growth from him this year.”

There have been a lot of memories that Moore has made throughout his career so far. But out of all of them, he has one that stands out as his favorite. 

“I think the highlight memory for me would have to be getting to play football with my older brother Jake,” he stated. 

While he appreciates all of his teammates, Max says that he enjoys working with Noah Ellis in practice the most. 

“Noah has had multiple major setbacks,” he said. “But he shows up everyday with a great attitude and willingness to work.”

When he puts on his Mannford uniform, Moore knows that he is playing for more than just himself and he does not take it for granted. 

“It means a lot to be able to play for my school and community,” he said. “It is a great opportunity that I am thankful for.”
