Mannford Frosh Bella Gilbert Loves Her Role – Presented by Rib Crib

Freshman Bella Gilbert is already making a name for herself at Mannford High School. She’s been around softball for as long as she can remember, starting little league in Mannford at just seven years old. Between multiple sports and stepping into a leadership role early on, Bella has quickly shown she’s more than ready to compete at the high school level.

Being a student-athlete at MHS means more to Bella than just competition.                                   “We have an amazing, energetic fan base and strong support for multi-sport athletes,” she shared.

One of her favorite memories is running cross country meets alongside her brother, but the connection goes even further.                              

“It’s where my mom went to high school and now assistant coaches that makes it extra special to play on the fields she once did,” Bella said.

When it comes to favorite places to play, she has one that is on the top of her list.                            “My favorite place to play softball is in Oklahoma City at Devon Park where the WCWS is held,” Bella said. “It’s exciting to play on the same field as some of the college softball players who have inspired me.”

Family plays a huge role in Bella’s success, especially her dad. His encouragement and support are helping her become the athlete she’s always wanted to be.                                            

“He’s thrown thousands of pitches, hit thousands of balls, and sacrifices his time,” she explained.

On the field, Bella has been impressed by a lot of her teammates, especially Cambri Casey and Adley Elliott. She praised Cambri’s performance both on the mound and at the plate, and highlighted Adley for her exceptional attitude and work ethic and for being a remarkable teammate.

Bella balances athletics with academics well. Math is her favorite subject, and Mrs. Spradlin is her favorite teacher.                                                  

“She makes learning fun and has taught us so many life lessons,” she said.

She’s involved in cross country, softball, basketball, and track, while also serving as freshman class president and participating in student council, gifted and talented, and leadership council.

Predominantly a third baseman for MHS. This past season was actually her first time playing third base and it has become her favorite position now. In the dugout, she added that Jayden Crauthers is the loudest teammate. At the plate, Bella keeps it simple.                                                                       “I say yes, yes, yes to myself while the ball is coming,” she explained.

Looking ahead, her goals are set.                            

“I plan to attend college and further my softball career.”

She has a lot of softball ahead of her and is determined to keep reaching her goals.
