Ryder Tidwell doesn’t wait for opportunity; he chases it down before sunrise. A sophomore at Mannford High School, Tidwell has already built a reputation rooted in effort. Whether he’s lining up at outside linebacker, taking handoffs at running back, sprinting hurdles in track, or competing on the soccer field, his mindset stays the same: outwork everyone.

Long before the stands fill up on Friday nights, Tidwell is already putting in the work. Early mornings, long lifts, and hours of film became part of his routine, not because he had to, but because he chose to.

“I would wake up at 5 just to earn my starting spot.”

That commitment shaped more than his game. It gave him a deeper connection to the people around him. For Tidwell, football isn’t just physical, it’s personal.

“Love… I would die on the field for my brothers.”

That bond fuels how he plays and how he leads. Teammates like Brayden Rodriguez helped him understand what that leadership really looks like, both in effort and in attitude.

“Brayden had taught me respect for others and just how to run the ball.”

Guidance from coaches has played just as big a role. Coach Landrum, in particular, left a lasting impact, not just through drills, but through life lessons that extend beyond football.

“Be a leader, do what’s right.”

Faith is another cornerstone of who Tidwell is becoming. It drives his purpose and reminds him that his potential goes beyond stats or wins.

“Jesus… why would I want to do nothing with my life when I could live my life to full potential.”

Even with all the work he’s put in, Tidwell knows he hasn’t done it alone. The support from his family keeps him grounded and motivated every step of the way.

“My mom and dad… they are always there.”

At Mannford, he’s found more than a team, he’s found a community. And as his journey is just getting started, one thing is already clear: Ryder Tidwell isn’t just building an athlete, he’s building something bigger.
