Hewitt & Softball Team Off to Great Start – Presented by RibCrib

Charleigh Hewitt

Mannford High School

Under the leadership of head coach Russell Wood, Mannford is sitting at 11-3 through the month of August.

Charleigh Hewitt has played a role in that success.

Hewitt started playing softball when she was in preschool.

“I knew it was the sport for me when I started playing competitive ball when I was nine years old,” said Hewitt.

Changes to the team came from the top and Hewitt said the team has embraced what coach Wood has brought to the team.

“Our new coach has made a positive impact with our team culture and performance this year,” said Hewitt.

Hewitt said the community support has been great as the team looks to make a run at the state tournament this season. As a student-athlete, Hewitt gives credit to her family for always being supportive.

“My parents and grandparents who have always supported me and Sydney Pennington, who inspired me and mentored me throughout my softball career. My dad for always pushing me to maximize my capability,” said Hewitt.

Hewitt also plays basketball, soccer, and cheers for Mannford, but softball is her focus. When she’s not on the field, you can find her spending time with family, friends and her dog, fancy.

Hewitt plans to attend nursing school to become a registered nurse after she graduates.
