Marley Beshear is a sophomore at Mannford High School and is participating in cross country and track. She is also involved with leadership council, spirit club, and speech and debate. Her biggest moment in her sports career so far has been making it to state in track and field during her freshman year.
Marley’s favorite sports moment was the Roger’s State University “Distance after Dark”. It was her first ever high school cross country meet. “It was truly a special moment for me, considering that I received my first high school media that night and it was under the lights,” she says. Sports have taught her how to push herself. Marley says that “cross country especially has taught me to set my mind to something and going and getting it.”
Marley tells us that her family has been her biggest positive impact. “I’m glad to have a family that loves me and supports me,” she says. Her favorite subject in school is currently Spanish, and after high school, she’s considering pursuing a degree to be an OB-GYN, but is still working that out. In her free time, Marley likes to go on runs, swim, and spend time with her family, and listen to music.
Marley’s mom used to run cross country and track, so she decided to try it out in the 7th grade and ended up really enjoying it. What keeps her motivated is her coaches and her parents. “I look forward to the end of a race and seeing the people that showed up for me,” she says. Marley’s favorite part about cross country and track is the finish line. “I love the feeling of finishing a race and feeling accomplished afterwards. It’s even better when you do good or receive a medal,” she says. If she could give other athletes any advice it would be the same advice that she tells herself, “the faster you run, the faster you get it over with.”
